THERE are just hours left to object to plans to close Oxford's beloved Cellar bar.

The comments section on the planning application on Oxford City Council's website closes at the end of the day.

Already, a whopping 560 people have sent their views to the council planning department, the vast majority objecting to the proposals to shut the music venue off Cornmarket Street.

Other music venues and businesses across the city have also shown their solidarity by putting up a 'Save the Cellar' poster drawn up for free by graphic designer Salvador Lavado, who has previously worked with Rhianna, Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Elton John.

The Star pub, Truck Store, Peloton cafe, the Library bar and the Ballroom clothes shop are among the city businesses who have taken up the cause.

Music promoter and band manager Vez Hoper has taken photos of many of them - see our gallery above.

It comes after Radiohead drummer Philip Selway backed the campaign to save the Cellar last week, and an online petition against the closure has garnered more than 13,000 signatures.

Cellar manager Tim Hopkins is fighting for survival after the charity which owns the building in Frewin Court submitted a planning application to convert it into part of a shop.

St Michael's and All Saints' Charities wants to convert the space when the retailer above The Cellar, Lush, moves out of that unit and into the new Westgate Centre.
