TOOT toot! – Oxford's most hedonistic entrepreneur is well and truly living up to his role as 'Mr TOAD'.

Tom Nicolson, founder of The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD), welcomed crowds to 'Toad Hall' on Sunday for the first ever open day.

More than 1,000 punters, thirsty for knowledge (and perhaps something a little stronger) poured into the new business at the top of South Park, Headington.

Mr Nicholson, pictured here with his Californian master distiller Cory Mason, also treated his guests to a classic car show.

Visitors who went behind-the-scenes in the still room enjoyed some scintillating samples and chomped on fresh pizza, then went motoring.

A fine selection of classic cars were on display courtesy of The Morgan Sports Car Club and Iffley Motor Club.

Gin lover Mr Nicolson opened his distillery at the end of July after five years of planning.

The company is already producing gin and vodka from locally-sourced grains.

The distillery is also offering two guided tours a day and visitors can catch a dedicated shuttle bus from the Tourist Information Centre in Broad Street.

The company hopes to start building a restaurant on site next year.
