A SLIP road off the Hinksey Hill A34 interchange has reopened after a car fire.

The vehicle was ablaze on the south-facing slip road on to the dual carriageway. It was temporarily closed.

A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police said: "We were called at 8.26am to reports of a car fire on the Southbound slip road, South Hinksey, close to the A34."

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not need to be taken to hospital, South Central Ambulance Service added.

The incident caused major delays to westbound traffic on both the Southern and Eastern bypasses.
