Amanufacturing company received high praise from the International Trade Secretary on a visit to its Banbury factory this week.

Engineering and technology firm Prodrive, best known for designing and building competition cars, received a visit from Liam Fox on Monday afternoon.

The MP and Secretary of State was taken on a guided tour of the premises in Chalker Way to see first-hand how the firm makes parts for race and rally cars for clients including Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo and McLaren using traditional metalworking techniques.

The visit followed the launch of the government’s Industrial Strategy green paper, which aims to encourage trade and inward investment policy in the UK.

Dr Fox said: “Trade and investment is a vital part of building an economy that works for all, creating jobs and transforming local communities and industry.

“Across the UK we’re pioneering a whole host of new technologies, working with industry and universities to ensure Britain remains the location of choice for many sectors such as the next-generation automotive industry.

“Prodrive is a fantastic example of innovative British automotive engineering at its best and a great illustration of our how we can and should be exporting our world-class expertise to benefit our economy.”

The Government’s ten point strategy for trade and investment includes attempts to build new trading partnerships as Britain leaves the EU and efforts to make government trade services easier to use for firms looking to boost their exports.
