A 25-year-old man charged with firearms and driving offences after a suspected exchange of gunfire between a group of people will appear in Oxford Crown Court next month.
Kujtim Elezaj of no fixed abode was charged on Monday with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was also charged with affray and driving without insurance.
Elezaj appeared at Oxford Magistrates Court yesterday.
He has been remanded in police custody until November 11 where he will appear at Oxford Crown Court.
The charges are in connection with an incident in Ridgefield Road on Friday when officers were called to reports of disorder.
The road was sealed off today as part of the investigation.
Officers were first called after a number of loud bangs were heard between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on October 7.
A number of people were involved in the incident.
Investigating Officer, Det Sgt Wojciech Spyt of Force CID said there has been no reported injuries sustained as a result of the incident.
He added: “Firearms offences are rare in Oxford, but we are carrying out a full and thorough investigation.
“Neighbourhood teams will be increasing their patrols in the area, and we encourage residents with any concerns or information to make contact with them.”
