2. Top story: Police call handler Gail Daniels-Ekarte has been sacked from Thames Valley Police after hanging up a woman who called 999 in Oxford in December 2013, who was later raped.

According to police, 40-year-old Zilvinas Ruzgas of Odessa Road, London, was later jailed for seven years for rape and placed on the sexual offenders register.

3. Weather: Warm and muggy but cloudy throughout the day with highs of 23 °C. Some parts of the county may enjoy bright, sunny spells later in the day. Dry throughout the night with some clear spells.

4. Traffic: Looking good in Oxford so far apart from usual queues now beginning to build along the A40 at Cutteslowe/Wolvercote Roundabouts and London Road in Headington.

Elsewhere in the county traffic is looking good but the A41 around Oxford Road at Bicester Little Chef Roundabout is looking unusually clogged.

5. Today's front page: Council bosses have spent a total of £200,000 of taxpayers' money into reports looking at a possible unitary local government structure - and now refuse to talk about it.

The leaders of all Oxfordshire councils paid two big city accounting firms to look into the cost-cutting measure but the whole process has now been called a "complete shambles".
