THIS has got to be the most blockheaded way anyone has celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday yet – no offence intended.

As part of a schools' art project in Wantage, children have made a variety of pieces honouring Her Majesty, including this tribute made of Lego.

The pixelated portrait is one of dozens of Lego artworks which will be displayed at the town's Vale and Downland Museum this weekend in a special exhibition as part of Wantage Summer Festival of arts.

Organiser Sylwia Korsak said: "One of the key points of feedback from the festival in 2015 was a lack of engagement of younger audiences so we spent a lot of time talking to all the schools to improve that.

"We are thus really pleased to see the exhibition and hope that it’s not the last time we can have local schools in our programme."

The art project from which this Lego masterpiece emerged was run by the eight schools in the Springline partnership, in Wantage and surrounding villages.

The works were displayed at several of the schools this month – Fitzwaryn special school in Wantage, Ridgeway primary in Childrey, Stockham School in Wantage, St Amands in East Hendred, Stanford primary school and Grove CofE.

Bits of the exhibition are now on display at shops around town and the museum.
