DUCKS, dogs and West End musicals will be among the attractions at the 2016 Oxfordshire's Young Farmers County Show and Rally this Sunday.

The annual event is hosted by Oxfordshire’s young farmers' clubs and this year is Bicester's turn to take the reins.

The community event promises to be bursting with activity from the dog and duck show to the traditional tug-o-war.

Bicester Young Farmer and one of the organisers Jade Bowerman, from Souldern, said: "The County Show and Rally day is a country show day where the public can come along and bring their families.

"They can see things such as the dog and duck show and vintage tractor displays, there is a fairground coming along, trade stands, a craft fair, tractor and trailer rides and not forgetting the young farmers' competitions.

"The competition will be going on throughout the day, including the ever popular carnival float display and this year the theme is West End Musicals."

The farmers group in Bicester has been working hard to pull together a bumper show of all things country on Sunday in Middleton Stoney near Bicester.

The rally will be held from 10am at Park Farm and will host vintage tractor displays, a chance to ride in a trailer and watch the "heavy horse show".

There will also be a parade of hounds and displays of traditional farming skills.

Taking a step back into history there will also be the vintage tractor displays and a fun fair for the families.

Ms Bowerman, 25, added: "Young Farmers is not just for farmers.

"I am not a farmer myself and I just got into it through a friend who convinced me to go along and - however cheesy it sounds - I haven't looked back since.

"It gives you so many fantastic opportunities which you might not ever have had chance to do for a normal twenty-something.

"Young Farmers is open for ages 10 to 26 and Bicester meet every Wednesday night, most of which, at the moment, has been taken up by building our float and preparing our rally classes."

Tickets for the event cost £7.50 for an adult, £6 for 16s and under and under-sixes go free.
