A team has been set up by Oxford University to go on real-life quests for holy relics from Christianity.
The group, which will be nicknamed the Da Vinci Code department, will attempt to separate the myth from the reality for items across Europe and beyond.
It is understood to be the first research body of its type in the world and will be based in Keble College.
Experts in genetics, radiocarbon dating, archaeology and geography will pool their knowledge to find the hidden stories of the past.
