CARDBOARD 'Beggar Traps' are being placed at key points in the city centre this morning in protest against the proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
Councillors, local campaign groups and comedian Mark Thomas have met to rally against the proposed measure, which would ban a series of 'antisocial' behaviours from the city centre.
Actions punishable by the PSPO, due to be approved by Oxford City Council's City Executive Board this Thursday, include graffiti and 'persistent and aggressive begging'.
The campaign group have made their way to Oxford Town Hall now to continue the protest.
Speaking at Carfax Tower, Mr Thomas said: "It appears to us that beggars are being entrapped into the criminal justice system and debt."
The 'traps' are being placed around the city with a copy of the PSPO. One is currently being placed in Oxford Town Hall.
