DESPITE the poor Bank Holiday weather, a good crowd turned out to enjoy the annual Shipton-under-Wychwood fete.

The clouds parted just enough for people to enjoy the dog show, charity stalls and traditional games in the village near Burford.

Witney Town Band also helped to brighten the atmosphere.

Hilary Murphy, from Milton-under-Wychwood, took her lively three-year-old Pointer-Retriever cross Maisie to enjoy the jumps and contests.

She said: “It was lovely to do the show.

“The weather brightened up a bit and it was great to see all the local people getting together and enjoying it.”

Maisie won a fourth placed rosette in the prettiest dog category but was less lucky in the dog and spoon race where she knocked the egg off the spoon.

The proceeds are going towards local causes including St Mary’s Church.
