THRILLSEEKERS were greeted with trapeze artists and knife throwers when the circus came to town.

The high-top tent of John Lawson’s Circus will remain at Millets Farm Centre until the end of the month.

Thousands of spectators were expected to make the trip to the Garford centre where up to 450 people can catch the daily performances held at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

There will perform 27 shows in total.

The farm’s events manager Daren Fisher hailed the opening day’s performances which also featured dagger balancing, diabolo demonstrations and cube manipulation.

He said: “It’s absolutely amazing.

“The quality that you get is mind-blowing because it’s very professional and very polished.

“There’s a clown with a ring-master who holds the whole thing together.”

It is the third year that the circus has performed at Millets Farm Centre, though the family-run business has been going for more than 40 years.

John Lawson told the Oxford Mail after the opening day’s performances: “It has all gone very well and it is looking like it will be a busy week.

“It’s a lovely setting here. There are swans on the lake at the back of us, so it’s one of our favourites to be honest.”
