THE organisation which runs some of Oxfordshire’s main hospitals has been ranked among England’s best for the time it takes to begin clinical trials involving new medicines and treatments.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH) which runs Oxford’s JR Hospital and Banbury’s Horton General Hospital, has been ranked the second most research-active NHS Trust, on a measure of how quickly it recruits patients and gets clinical trials started.

The figures were analysed and reported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

They show 95 per cent of OUH studies recruited their first patient within 70 days to get the trial underway.
