Banbury United came from behind to lift their slim hopes of avoiding relegation with a 1-1 draw at the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division play-off chasers on Monday.

It saw Banbury move 11 points closer to safety.

Redditch took a 39th-minute lead through Ashley Sammons.

Banbury almost equalised on 64 minutes, only for Leam Howards to be denied by Sam Hornby in the Redditch goal.

On 82 minutes, Banbury levelled when Redditch failed to clear a free-kick and Jack Westbrook fired in.

On Saturday, Banbury won 3-0 at basement club Burnham.

Although dominating proceedings, Banbury had to wait until the 56th minute before taking the lead.

A cross from Jacob Daffern was slotted home by Leam Howards after Burnham keeper Brendan Haslett parried his initial shot.

On 62 minutes it was 2-0 when Jordan Green fired a free-kick low into the corner.

Banbury scored their third goal on 70 minutes. A high cross by Daffern went through Haslett’s hands and Luke Cray smashed in from close range.
