Banbury United stayed at the foot of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division despite a battling display in a 2-1 defeat by play-off chasers Truro City at Spencer Stadium on Saturday.
The Puritans’ fifth league defeat in a row sees them eight points from safety.
Banbury went ahead on 15 minutes when Joel Meade fastened onto Thomas Amegnaglo’s a free-kick before finding Kynan Isaac who squared it for Tom Ryan to knock in from close range.
However, Truro equalised three minutes later when Les Afful chested home.
Truro took the lead in the 59th minute when Matthew Wright headed in.
Banbury attempted to get back into the contest, but did not test Kyle Moore in the Truro goal as the hosts stayed bottom of the pile.
Banbury Utd: Bedwell, Walcott, Martin, Meade, Tappin (Westbrook 80), Ryan, Green (Howards 64), Amegnaglo, Lewis, Isaac, Browne (Hartigan HT). Subs not used: Cray, D Martin.
Attendance: 239.
