SNOW has been forecast for Oxfordshire over the weekend and a yellow weather warning is still in place for today.

The latest Met Office forecasts predicts Chipping Norton, Faringdon, Thame and Watlington will see a light covering early tomorrow morning.

Didcot, Abingdon and Banbury will be hit by sleet for much of the morning.

Snow will return to Chipping Norton on Saturday evening through to the early hours of Sunday.

The Met Office said most parts of Oxfordshire are unlikely to see large amounts of snow today but icy stretches are likely on untreated roads.

Met Office chief forecaster Eddie Carroll said: “There is the potential for disruption throughout this period due to the accumulating snow and ice but also with temporary blizzard conditions leading to very difficult driving conditions.”

Yesterday saw a smattering of snow across much of the county including Carterton, Chipping Norton and Didcot, but only for a short period.
