OXFORD MAGISTRATES

Leon Jackson, 36, of Tarragon Drive, Oxford, admitted carrying a knife in Grenoble Road, Greater Leys, on October 23. Given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and a curfew to stay in his home from 8pm to 4am every night until Christmas Day. Ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £80 and £85 in costs.

Michael Hardisty, 31, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted stealing wine from Co-op stores in the High Street, Kidlington, and Banbury Road, Oxford, on November 7 and November 10. Sent to prison for six weeks because he had similar previous convictions.

Laura Emery, 36, of Barton Village Road, Oxford, admitted stealing salmon worth £7 from the Co-Op in Rose Hill, Oxford, on October 11. Fined £35 and ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £20 and £35 in costs.

Hayley Bishop, 29, of Town Close, Sutton Courtenay, admitted opening fake accounts within Shop Direct companies to try to commit fraud, and fraudulently transferring Sainsbury’s Nectar points to make £467. Sent to prison for six weeks because of the planning involved in the frauds and because she was on a suspended sentence for a similar crime.

Jacob Chambers, 25, of Mattock Close, Oxford, admitted criminal damage to a door in Nightingale Avenue, Oxford, and a car rear windscreen in Farm Close, Oxford, on October 25. Fined a total of £100 and ordered to pay £150 in compensation, a victims’ surcharge of £75 and £35 in costs.

Kiyan Kiani, 19, of Kestrel Crescent, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis, a Class B drug, in Garsington Road, Oxford, on November 13. Also admitted driving without a licence and correct insurance on the same day. Fined a total of £220 and given six points on his driving licence. Ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £20 and £60 in costs.

Irfan Yaseen, 37, of Weyland Road, Oxford, admitted assault by beating in Churchill Drive, Oxford, on August 15. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £20 and £85 in costs.

Taran Bell, 19, of Mathews Way, Wootton, admitted criminal damage to two car windows worth approximately £650 in The Gap, Marcham, on October 8. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £300 in compensation. Ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £15 and £50 in costs.

Mark Merritt, 40, of Gainsborough Green, Abingdon, admitted fraudulently taking money from a Barclays bank cash machine in Marcham Road, Abingdon, on January 22 and February 1 and 4. Given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 in compensation. Ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £20 and £85 in costs.

BANBURY MAGISTRATES

Norman Gourley, 62, of no fixed address, admitted being drunk in public, namely on Paradise Street, Oxford, on November 16. Also admitted failing to answer bail at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on December 1, and committing a further offence while subject to a community order made on August 12 for stealing three cans of alcohol, worth £6, from Marks & Spencer, Oxford, on August 11. Fined £150 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.

Christopher Smith, 51, of no fixed address, admitted criminally damaging a plant, a plant pot and a sign worth £120 at the Bowyer Arms, Foxborough Road, Radley, near Abingdon, on December 1. Fined £100 and ordered to pay £110 compensation and a £20 victims’ surcharge.

Joseph Santos, 26, of West Street, Banbury, admitted stealing a bike worth £190 from a man at Banbury Railway Station multi-storey car park on July 23 and admitted failing without reasonable excuse to answer bail at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on November 7. Given a community order with six months of drug rehabilitation treatment and 12 months’ supervision. Also ordered to pay £95 compensation, a £60 victims’ surcharge and £25 costs.

Malcolm Capehorn, 74, of Kingsway, Banbury, admitted drink-driving on Kingsway on August 27. Had 56 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath over the legal limit of 35mg. Banned from driving for three years, fined £110 and ordered to pay £100 costs and a £20 victims’ surcharge.

Daniel Lewis, 18, of Millers Way, Middleton Cheney, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her in Banbury on October 4. Also admitted stealing alcoholic drinks worth £23.76 from Londis Stores in Banbury on the same date. Given a 12-month conditional discharge, fined £75 and ordered to pay £13.86 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £80 costs.

Kyle Byfield, 22, of Longleat Close, Banbury, admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place, Horsefair, Banbury, on November 15. Fined £35 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Paul Woodward, 34, of Cromwell Road, Banbury, admitted stealing three packs of scratch cards worth a total of £564 belonging to Phillips Associates, Warwick Road, Banbury, on July 7 then fraudulently claimed he had winning scratch cards to make a financial gain for himself between July 7 and 11. Given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Also ordered to join a restorative justice course for one day and pay £1,204 compensation and an £80 victims’ surcharge.

Lee Bromley, 38, of Thyme Close, Banbury, admitted stealing £4.49 worth of ice cream from Morrisons supermarket in Banbury on November 30. Fined £30 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge.

Adam Chambers, 27, of Gibbs Crescent, Oxford, admitted damaging a double glazed window to the value of £1,000 in Beaufort Close, Bicester, on November 8. Also admitted criminally damaging a fence in Bicester on November 29. Given a 14-day prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Ordered to pay £200 compensation, an £80 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Slawomir Palestrant, 27, of Colwell Drive, Witney, admitted withholding information for the purpose of getting car insurance on March 9, and driving in Holloway Road, Witney, without insurance or a valid licence on July 30. Fined £700 and ordered to pay a £35 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for nine months.
