AFTER the record-breaking warmth of Halloween, Bonfire Night is set to be near freezing in Oxfordshire.

The Met Office forecasts temperatures to plunge to 2C tomorrow, with the Highways Agency having gritters on standby in case major roads get icy across the country.

It comes after October was the warmest on record, which made it hotter than parts of Spain.

Leon Brown, for The Weather Channel, said: “On Wednesday morning there may be an even greater risk of some patchy frost with lighter winds and more clear spells, mostly dry but colder than average.”
