A 15-year-old boy has been banned from Banbury United matches and ordered to do a restorative justice programme after a bottle was thrown at the referee.

The club’s game against Slough Town was abandoned after Saturday’s incident, which resulted in the referee being sick in his dressing room.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “A 15-year-old boy from Banbury was interviewed by police. He has undertaken a youth restorative disposal and has been banned from attending Banbury United FC.”
