Saturday

1. Abingdon Fire Station in Ock Street will hold an open day from 11am to 3pm to mark its 50th anniversary.

2. The British Heart Foundation Oxford to Cambridge Bike Ride will be held. Cyclists will ride a 90-mile route between the rival university towns. Registration is open at Oxford University Sports Centre in Iffley Road from 6am and cyclists will set off between 6.30am and 8.45am, finishing at Cambridge University Sports Centre by 7pm. Entry is available on the day at £25.

3. The Fairford, Faringdon, Filkins and Burford Ploughing Championships and Country Show will be held today from 8.30am. It will take place at Shifford Manor Farm in Old Shifford, near Standlake, Witney. Entry costs £8 for adults, £5 for children and free for under fives.

4. Wantage will hold its Alfred’s Feast Day celebrations today and tomorrow. The event will be held each day from 11am to 4.30pm at Manor Road recreation ground.

Sunday

5. Blenheim Palace Literary Festival ends today. Visit blenheimpalaceliteraryfestival.com.

6. Barton’s Fun Dog Show will be held for the second time. The show will be held at Barton Neighbourhood Centre in Underhill Circus from 1.15pm to 6pm. Entry costs £2.

7. Oxford City Council will hold a full meeting at the Town Hall from 5pm. Councillors will debate a petition signed by 1,800 people, which urges the council to accept a bid from the Save Temple Cowley Pools group for the facility.

8. An inquiry will begin into plans by Oxford City Council to create a link across the A40 to its 900-home Barton Park development. The first hearing will be held at St Columba’s United Reformed Church in Alfred Street.

Tuesday

9. The deadline for nominations for the Didcot First Business and Community Awards, which honour excellence amongst local businesses, community groups and young enterprise. For more information visit didcotfirst.org.uk.

Wednesday

10. Bampton Community Archive will open its new exhibition called We Will Remember Them, which commemorates every name including on the three village war memorials between 1914 and 2014. It will be held in Bampton Library.

Thursday

11. Wood Green School in Witney will hold a meeting with parents about its proposal to become an academy at 6pm.
