Firefighters were called to a farm near Cropredy to put out a field blaze.

Four fire engines were called to the scene to put out the large blaze on Wednesday afternoon.

The cause was a bonfire, but it is not being treated as arson, a spokeswoman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said yesterday.

She said no one was injured.

Firefighters also tackled a blaze in a field in Epwell, near Banbury, on Tuesday caused by hay getting into a car’s exhaust when two young people drove into the field at about 2.28pm.

Spokesman Dominic Llewellyn-Jones said the car was burnt out and firefighters had to carry their equipment across the field, near Birds Lane, because their engines could not go off-road.
