A ROUND-UP of recent cases at Oxford Magistrates' Court.

  1. Adrian Comber, 41, of York Road, Carterton, admitted drink-driving in York Road, Carterton, on February 21. Had 225 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml of urine, above the legal limit of 107 milligrams. Fined £575 and told to pay a £58 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Disqualified from driving for 18 months.
  2. Christopher Thornhill, 62, of Kynaston Road, Didcot, admitted possession of a firearm without a certificate, namely a S410 Classic Cal 5.5mm, in Didcot, on August 19. Also admitted possession of a Rapid 12/200 Cal.20 without a firearm certificate in Didcot on the same day. Given a two-year conditional discharge. Told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £100 costs.
  3. Gordon Appleyby, 29, of Barns Road, Oxford, convicted of having an offensive weapon, namely a knuckle duster, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse in a public place, namely St Aldates police station, on December 2. Community order made and ordered to do 140 hours of unpaid community work in the next 12 months. Also told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £300 costs.
  4. Kieron Barrett, 35, of Abingdon Road, Cumnor, admitted theft from a motor vehicle after stealing disco equipment worth £250 from Walton Well Road, Oxford, on May 29. Sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. Also told to pay £250 compensation.
  5. Adrian Flint, 24, of Collett Way, Grove, admitted two charges of assault by beating in Woodhill Drive, Grove, on January 14. Also admitted criminal damage to a mobile phone in Woodhill Drive, Grove, on January 14. Community order made with programme and supervision requirements. Also told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £400 costs.
  6. Michael Kearney, 44, of Foresters Tower, Wood Farm, Oxford, admitted criminal damage to a BMW car windscreen in Trinity Road, Headington, Oxford, on May 6. Also admitted damaging garden features in Trinity Road, and another two car windscreens in the street on the same date. Admitted assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington on May 7. Community order made with alcohol treatment and supervision requirements. Also told to pay a total of £285 compensation and a £60 victims’ surcharge.
  7. Ian Florey, 49, of Giles Road, Oxford, admitted assault by beating in Giles Road, Oxford, on August 26. Given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Given a one-month curfew requirement. Also told to pay £250 compensation, an £80 victims’ surcharge, and £100 costs.
  8. Colin Rowe, 47, of The Winnaway, Harwell, admitted speeding at 46mph in a 30mph zone in Witney Road, Standlake, on October 30. Fined £100 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with four penalty points.
  9. Robert Baskerville, 70, of Aston Rowant Road, Aston Rowant, convicted of speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford Road, Enstone, on October 28. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
  10. Elizabeth McHale, 45, of Saunders Road, Oxford, admitted speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone on the A4074 in Nuneham Courtenay on October 29. Fined £100 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge. Licence endorsed with three penalty points.
  11. Andrew Noyce, 38, of Ashford Close, Woodstock, admitted speeding at 82mph in a 50mph zone on the A34 southbound at Wytham on December 17. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £20 costs. Banned from driving for 21 days.
  12. Susan Brown, 60, of St George’s Road, Wallingford, admitted speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone on the A4074 in Warborough on December 17. Fined £108 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
  13. Lee Buckingham, 44, of Eynsham Road, Freeland, admitted speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone on the B480 in Chiselhampton on October 29. Fined £133 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three penalty points.
  14. Rhianydd Davies, 57, of Finsbury Gardens, Chipping Norton, admitted speeding at 35mph in a 30mph zone in Worcester Road, Chipping Norton, on October 26. Fined £133 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
  15. Colin Jones, 49, of Carlton Close, Grove, admitted speeding at 43mph in a 30mph zone on the A338 in East Hanney on October 30. Fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge. Licence endorsed with four points.
  16. James Rees, 43, of Farm Close Road, Wheatley, convicted of speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone in Cuddesdon Road, Horspath, on October 30. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
  17. Joy Watson, 46, of Downs Road, Didcot, admitted speeding at 42mph in a 30mph zone on the A4074 in Warborough on October 29. Fined £100 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge. Licence endorsed with four points.
  18. Claire Wilkowski, 38, of Osney Close, Hook Norton, convicted of speeding at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Worcester Road, Chipping Norton, on October 25. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
