If photography’s about being in the right place at the right time, then Lucy Smith-Wildey has cracked it here. The moment of truth as Derek Sherwood plummets to earth for his 90th birthday treat. What a splendid moment indeed. 1/500th of a second to take the photo... two-and-a-half days to put the legs up on Lucy’s tripod!
This one just makes me smile. Bladon C of E Primary pupils Fin Campbell, Alfie McDonald and Zac Way, dressed as Harry Potter at Woodstock Carnival. Not sure why their motor is equipped with warheads but a great picture from Simon Williams last Saturday
Here’s a case of being at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Everyone should be allowed to cool off with an ice cream on a hot day, maybe even the police. But perhaps they should avoid parking on double yellows to do so, especially when there are passing Oxford Mail snappers about
Mark Hemsworth was up at silly o’clock last Saturday morning to capture the solstice celebrations at Rollright Stones. Personally, I don’t want to be reminded that the nights are drawing in, but I’m willing to forgive after he got this lovely image of Sue Small framed through a hole in the Rollright Stones as the sun rose
I love Oxford’s quirky traditions. This one, the annual inspection of Port Meadow by the Freemen of Oxford and Wolvercote commoners, always sounds like it will make good pictures but doesn’t always pay off on the ground. But Andrew Walmsley came up trumps. I love the expressions of Sherriff of Oxford Rae Hunterstone and the slightly sad-looking, unnamed pony
I like the mirrored reactions of the two Horspath Players, in contrast to the worried backward glances of Chesham’s Andy Goddard as the lbw call goes up last Saturday. Picture by Steve Wheeler
Having taken nice pictures of retiring headteacher David Burrows surrounded by Ladygrove Park pupils, Cliff Hide scouted around for other possibilities and spotting this helpful sign at the end of the obstacle course. He utilised it splendidly for this relaxed and natural portrait. Great spot, great angle, great pic
