No decisions have been taken over the future of some disability services after reports an NHS authority would lose the contract following the death of a teenager, a council spokesman has said.

An Oxfordshire County Council spokesman commented after reports that Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust would lose its contract with the authority when it expires in December 2015.

It follows the finding of an independent probe that the July 2013 death of Headington’s Connor Sparrowhawk, 18, could have been prevented at Southern Health’s Slade House residential unit.

Marcus Mabberley of the council said: “A competitive procurement process would be undertaken to determine future providers, with no decisions having yet being made.”
