A WITNEY business park is virtually full, prompting further development.

The Windrush Industrial Estate on Burford Road has reached 96 per cent occupancy on its industrial units, three years after the development was bought by the Blenheim Estate.

The estate is made up of 500,000 sq ft of buildings covering 28 acres and also includes the Witney Business and Innovation Centre opened in November 2012, which is now 63 per cent occupied.

Now plans are being drawn up for the first phase of development on a 0.75 acre plot at the Burford Road entrance, while further rooms are to be added to the Business and Innovation Centre in July.

Jim Yates, commercial property portfolio manager at the Blenheim Estate, said: “We feel we have now put our mark on the estate and the high level of occupancy shows we must be doing something right.

“In the last three months we have welcomed two new local businesses to the estate, Witney Commercials and Witney Warehouse. This just leaves us with a single 18,000 sq ft warehouse handed back in March, which is the largest warehouse available in Witney.”

Mr Yates believes strong demand will continue given the continuing growth of Witney. He added: “We have been monitoring demand and as well as local interest, it is clear Witney also attracts regional enquiries given its central location between the M4, M5, A34 and M40.

“Also, the new development at west Witney and proposed A40 road junction will do more to establish Witney’s presence.”
