High speed rail opponents in North Oxfordshire say the Government’s offer of compensation does not go far enough.

Yesterday, the Department for Transport published an “improved compensation and assistance package” for people who own property along the planned HS2 line from London to Birmingham which would skirt Mixbury and Finmere, near Bicester.

People within 60 metres of the line will get the full market price for their property.

Bernie Douglas, chairman of Villages of Oxfordshire Opposed to HS2, said: “Anyone who has a loss in house value should be compensated.”
