A JURY has heard evidence from nightclub bouncers in the trial of a man accused of biting off half his alleged victim’s ear.
Gary Maguire, of Clifford Road, Blackpool, denies one count of wounding with intent after violence broke out in the town’s Sound Exchange nightclub on March 3 last year.
Jonathan Stone, prosecuting, said the 40-year-old attacked Ryan Knight during an argument between two groups over a friend of Maguire who was allegedly pushing people.
He said this led to a “tussle” on the dance floor and a witness told police she saw Maguire punching Mr Knight in the side of the face as the younger man lay on the ground.
Mr Stone added that the defendant was seen holding his head against the side of Mr Knight’s head for about 30 seconds.
Yesterday doorman Luke King told the jury at Oxford Crown Court that he intervened in the trouble but “didn’t see any ear-biting”.
Maguire denies the charge.
The trial continues.
