REGULAR drop-in sessions for former soldiers who need welfare support will be launched at Banbury Town Hall, in Bridge Street, on Friday, February 28.

The first will take place alongside a job fair but in future the sessions will be held on the last Friday of the month from 11am to 1pm.

Sessions will be manned by two full-time Royal British Legion welfare representatives who will give advice on benefits, debt, housing and employment.

Chris Smithson, the chairman of the legion's Banbury branch, said: “Banbury was chosen as part of the legion’s revised way of working to provide a location at which members of the public and beneficiaries can meet members of legion staff.

“The aim of the sessions is to identify and engage with the most vulnerable clients and in particular those with multiple or complex needs.”
