PLANNING permission has been granted for more than 100 new homes in Banbury.
Cherwell District Council’s planning committee debated seven planning applications last week and gave consent for six schemes last week.
Banner Homes will build 40 homes on land north of Crouch Hill Farm, off Broughton Road in Banbury.
There were 62 letters of objection, which raised concerns about increased traffic and harm to wildlife.
A further 21 houses will be built by Spitfire Property Group in Oxford Road.
The council had raised concerns that the developments would conflict with their plans for future projects, but the committee said homes needed to be built quicker than the council’s current long-term plans.
The Planning Inspectorate has already overturned five refusals of planning permission by the council since last October.
The remaining four projects will be completed by the council itself, as part of the Build! project, which aims to provide affordable housing. Eleven semi-detached and terraced homes will be built on land to the rear of the Methodist Church in The Fairway.
