BURGLARS forced their way into a family home in Banbury and stole jewellery.

Two women and five children were at their home in Ferriston, Banbury, at 5.45pm on Friday when they heard noises coming from the house next door, which they knew was empty.

When they opened their front door to see what was happening, five or six men who were leaving the house next door forced their way through their front door.

The men, who were white and wearing black scarves covering their faces, searched the house, taking jewellery from one of the women, including a number of valuable gold bangles.

They then left the area on foot.

Det Sgt Jim Holmes, of Banbury Force CID, said: “While this was a traumatic and stressful incident for the victims, thankfully none of them were harmed.

“I would urge anyone who saw the men in the area or who has any information which may assist our investigation to contact the police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.
