THAMES VALLEY Police has begun misconduct proceedings against a police officer convicted of stealing and selling road crash victims’ details.

Winchester Crown Court jury found Pc Sugra Hanif, from Bretch Hill, Banbury, unanimously guilty of conspiracy to misconduct in a public office on Thursday.

The trial heard Hanif, 26, stole and sold on road crash victims’ details from the Thames Valley Police computer database.

Co-defendant and Hanif’s lover Raza Khan, 27, of Ivy Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, was also convicted after they were found guilty of working together on the scam.

But the jury was discharged yesterday after it was unable to reach a verdict on Khan’s wife – Paramjeet Kaur, 26, of Ivy Road, Handsworth – who was also charged with conspiracy to misconduct in a public office.

Hanif and Khan are to be sentenced in March but Thames Valley Police is moving ahead with misconduct proceedings against Pc Hanif.

Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood said: “The jury has found that the conduct of Pc Hanif fell well below the standards Thames Valley Police expects from its officers.

“We have begun misconduct proceedings.”
