THE jury that convicted an Oxfordshire police officer of misconduct has been discharged after it failed to reach a verdict on another defendant.

The Winchester Crown Court jury yesterday found Sugra Hanif, from Bretch Hill, Banbury, unanimously guilty of conspiracy to misconduct in a public office.

The trial heard Hanif, 26, stole and sold-on road crash victims’ details from the Thames Valley Police database.

Co-defendant and Hanif’s lover Raza Khan, 27, of Ivy Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, who owned a repairs garage, was also convicted after they were found guilty of working together on the scam.

But the jury today was unable to reach a verdict for Khan’s wife and the third defendant – Paramjeet Kaur, aged 26, and of Ivy Road, Handsworth, Birmingham – who was also charged with conspiracy to misconduct in a public office.

The Crown Prosecution Service will now have to decide if it wants to try her again.

Hanif and Khan are due to be sentenced at the court in March.
