AN empty unit in the middle of Audley Hall Mill is set to be turned into a garage, despite objections from neighbours Yasir Khan’s application to create an MoT Testing Station with ancillary car repair facilities has been given the green light by councillors.
The Planning and Highways Committee of Blackburn with Darwen borough heard that Shabbir Hassan and the Blackburn Rifle and Pistol Club had objected to the scheme.
Mr Hassan, who has lived on Dickens Street near the site for 23 years, opposed the proposal because of parking problems and traffic congestion.
John Lloyd from the rifle club in Audley Mill also objected because of the persistent problems already existing on both issues.
Mr Khan has promised the new development will create two full-time jobs.
The meeting on Thursday last week approved the application subject to restrictions on its hours of use.
