ALMOST 60 homes in Oxfordshire remain without power after the bad weather of Monday evening.

Oxfordshire was yesterday afternoon no longer on a list of affected areas in the Southern Electric region.

However, this morning the firm has issued a fuller breakdown of all areas still without power.

The village of Harpsden, near Henley, is the only place in the county still being hampered.

A total of 57 homes were this morning still without power.

The firms says that teams from Southern Electric are continuing their efforts to restore power to customers affected by the severe weather experienced in the south of England.

A spokesman said: "Throughout the SEPD territory, teams have been working from 7am this morning, repairing faults and restoring customers' electricity supplies. The affected areas are mainly rural in nature ."

A total of 5,000 homes in its area were still without power this morning.

Director of distribution Stuart Hogarth said: "We are making every effort to restore the electricity supply to affected customers by tonight, although given the flooding and poor weather conditions there may be some customers who are still without electricity tomorrow in hard-to-reach areas.

"Some of our network has suffered multiple points of damage and this proves particularly challenging for the teams. Our contingency plans have been deployed with all available operation staff working in the field and all support staff assisting the efforts."
