TRAIN services through Oxfordshire are suffering delays of more than two hours this evening as a result of problems caused by the stormy weather.

The worst problems are on First Great Western's route between Didcot Parkway, Bath, Bristol and South Wales, due to flooding of the tracks at Wootton Bassett, west of Swindon.

Network Rail has imposed a speed limit of 50mph on many FGW routes and on the Chiltern main line, reducing the number of trains that can run and causing extended journey times.

The speed limit is expected to remain in force until 7am tomorrow, with the possibility of futher delays if trees and other debris block the tracks.

Both FGW and Chiltern Railways say they will accept tickets dated for travel today on their services tomorrow.

CrossCountry services via Oxford and Banbury are also suffering delays of up to an hour due to the speed limits.

For the latest information on delays and cancellations, see First Great Western's Journeycheck page, chilternrailways.co.uk and nationalrail.co.uk or call 08457 484950.
