AN excited Jamie Knee was lifted into the air by clown Happy Randelle when the circus came to town in Chinnor.

The nine-year-old from Chinnor and a pupil at St Andrew’s School, said: “It was really great and I loved it.

“I was picked out of the crowd because they asked who liked the show so far and I put my hand up.

“Then they asked who smelt and I kept my hand up for a laugh and so they picked me out.

“They then put a harness round me and they pulled ropes and I was lifted into the air. It was quite funny and I wasn’t scared.”

The event, which took place on Wednesday and also featured Micaela Cardona’s sword tricks, left, was organised to help raise funds to run the Chinnor community swimming pool.

Chairwoman Carrie Mumby said: “It was absolutely marvellous and surpassed my expectations. The kids loved it and the adults loved it.

“As far as I am aware it was the first circus held in Chinnor and it was really well attended with about 350 to 400 people.”
