Sir – I am writing to express my disgust at the completely unnecessary and jobsworth attitude of SODC towards Rectory Farm at Stanton St John and I hope you will hear my voice and agree and take action, putting pressure on Nick Boles to do something about this.

Rectory Farm is a superb example of a family running a successful business while also fostering a strong sense of community and providing considerable free services to the community.

Quite apart from their reasonably priced pick-your-own farm and also very reasonably priced cafe, they provide free and wonderful, healthy outdoor entertainment and exercise for children of all ages, including a bouncy castle, bouncy slide, wooden obstacle courses, and giant sandpit.
You must see this for yourself if you have not been there. People can even bring their own picnics.
It is a marvellous place for families and completely free and open to all, even if you don’t purchase anything.
The range of people who bring their children here is amazing, with people from all over the world (often see Afro-Carribeans, Asians, Muslims with veils, non-British Europeans, people generally speaking foreign languages “not always so common in Oxfordshire country villages) and all classes and backgrounds. All integrating and joining in and getting along well and having fun.
We need more places like this, not fewer! I’d be glad to hear a response from those making these jobsworth decisions.
