Sir – Last week’s article by Damian Fantato says that Oxford University has already paid for trees to be planted in an attempt to limit the damage to views from Port Meadow that the Castle Mill development of student rooms causes.
However, I am not convinced that even Californian redwood trees would be tall enough to achieve this. The ugly buildings are on too big a scale.
I urge Oxford University to do the right thing by the population of Oxford and the history of Port Meadow and pay for two storeys of the buildings to be removed.
