It is the caterpillar of “Orgyia antiqua (L.) – a vapourer moth.
Unlike mother-in-laws, these moths are quite harmless: they don’t have any venom!
JOHN WILSON (mothologist) York Road Headington They’re riding roughshod over public opinion I WONDER why county councillors do not liaise with each other when trying to solve similar issues.
Today we read that Oxfordshire County County is riding roughshod over public opinion with their proposals regarding the Green Road roundabout (September 5).
Abingdon councillors have a wealth of experience in dealing with traffic problems so why not adopt the same solutions?
The answer is to build additional new houses on the busiest approach roads and stick a few pedestrial crossings around the place to keep the traffic flowing.
Simples.
