Oxfordshire wakes to heavy snow with buses affected + readers' pictures

Much of the county woke to the predicted heavy snowfall today, with the Met Office predicting heavy snow this morning for the city and light snow through the rest of today and even some tomorrow morning.

It has Oxfordshire on a yellow warning to just be prepared for adverse conditions today but not tomorrow.

In the north and west of the county it is predicted to snow all day and well into the afternoon of Sunday. The south is likely to escape the worst of it, with areas around Abingdon seeing it come and go but Wallingford was not forecast to see any more snowfall after about lunchtime.

Stagecoach bus services in the west and north of the county are being disrupted due to poor road conditions.

Buses on route S3 between Oxford, Woodstock, Charlbury and Chipping Norton are bypassing Combe and cannot serve Cornish Road in Chipping Norton, the 242 between Witney and Woodstock cannot serve North Leigh, Banbury town route B5 is not going to Hastings Road and the S4 between Oxford and Banbury cannot serve Duns Tew.

Oxfordshire County Council initially closed the Ardley and Dix Pit recycling centres  but both have now reopened.

Its gritters will be out across the north of the county this morning where the snow has been heaviest.

This afternoon's horseracing meeting at Newbury has been cancelled due to the wintry weather.
