County braces itself for more rain

MORE rainfall is expected to drench Oxfordshire today as the county braces for further flooding.

Met Office spokesman Charlie Powell said western parts of the county could even have more snow.

Chalgrove Brook was taken off flood warning yesterday but remained on flood alert.

Environment agency spokeswoman Hayley Willoughby said it had workers out at the river and its teams expected to have to deal with more rain. She added: “We have experienced heavy bursts of rain over the last four days across Oxfordshire and eight flood alerts are in force across the county.

“The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation closely. River levels are expected to remain high.”
