‘Empty’ homes are back in use

Three empty homes have been brought back into use as part of a Cherwell District Council drive.

Two were let and one sold “as a result of council interventions” a report on the district’s 472 empty properties stated.

It said new “enforcement principles” agreed last year had given the drive impetus and officers looked at 47 homes empty for two years or more.

But it said 24 of these were found not to be empty, which raises issues about data accuracy, according to the report.

Court powers to force entry into empty homes are being pursued.
