SILENCE filled the military chapel at Oxford’s Christ Church Cathedral as the names of the county’s fallen war heroes were read out.
The Turning the Pages ceremony is held every other month.
Names were read out of those who fought and died as members of the Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars, and the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, before a page from the Book of Remembrance is turned. Major Julian Webster and Roy Bailey read the names of servicemen who served with the Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars.
Maj Webster, also a member of the Oxfordshire Yeomanry Associaton, said: “The people that go are those who respect what our earlier comrades suffered.”
About 40 people attended the event on Saturday.
