Knifepoint robbery at Banbury bookmakers

A man robbed a Banbury betting shop at knifepoint and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber, described as being about 6ft, was wearing black clothing.

But his face was covered when he walked into Corals, in Ruscote Arcade on the Ruscote estate, just before 10pm last night and threatened a member of staff with a knife.

He demanded cash and ran out of the shop with an undisclosed sum before turning left.

Officers say the shop assistant was not injured, but was left shaken and upset, and are appealing for witnesses.

Det Sgt Jim Holmes, of Thames Valley Police, said: “The Co-op next door to the bookmakers was just closing at the time of the incident and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw a man hanging around outside the shops or running away from the shop at the time of the robbery.”

Anyone with any information should contact Det Sgt Homes on police line 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
