Villages near Banbury have become the first in the UK to be fully equipped with a super-fast fibre optic broadband network.

Deddington, Barford St Michael, Aynho Wharf, Hempton and Clifton can now get fibre-optic broadband can now get speeds of up to 330mbs compared to a county average of 12mbps, though subscription costs will be higher.

If take-up is high, BT said the pilot could be rolled out to other areas.

The first homes got the new service yesterday and all will be able to sign up by the end of the month, BT said.
