British Transport Police have confirmed that the man who died in the collision between the car and train near Kidlington yesterday was the passenger in the car.
The 85-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, following the crash between the freight train and the blue Renault Kangoo at about 3.40pm, on the Sandy Lane crossing between Yarnton and Kidlington.
The 78-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where is he being treated for his injuries and remains in a stable condition.
