Man convicted of attempted murder
A 33-year-old Banbury man was today convicted of attempted murder.
The jury took more than seven hours to return their verdict on Ian Holland, of Edinburgh Way.
During the seven-day trial at Oxford Crown Court, the jury was told Holland tried to kill Adam Dickson because he wrongly suspected he was going out with his former girlfriend.
Holland attacked Mr Dickson on the driveway of his parents' home in Adderbury, last June and left him lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Mr Dickson's parents Janet and Roy wept as the verdict was read.
Mr Dickson was not in court to hear the verdict Judge Anthony King remanded Holland in custody and adjourned sentencing until Tuesday, August 26.
