A housebuilder has teamed up with the Good Schools Guide to give parents looking for a new home more information on local schools, it has been announced.
People logging on to the Barratt website can enter a location, postcode or the name of a development they are interested in and be given a list of schools in the catchment area.
Parents can get further details, such as the number of pupils at the school and the percentage of children passing exams in English, maths and science, by clicking on a particular school's name.
If they want further information, the school's website and contact details are also listed.
The group said it had decided to introduce the guide to its website after research showed 32% of prospective buyers said being close to a good school was an important factor they took into account when buying a home.
Mark Clare, chief executive of Barratt Developments, said: "We are introducing this service now because parents who plan to move in time for the new school year often start house-hunting during the spring selling season.
"We believe that the Barratt school-finder will give them a head start."
