A Miley Cyrus concert in the Dominican Republic has been banned on morality grounds.

The government commission that oversees public performances is outlawing the September 13 performance.

It said it took the action because Miley often "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law".

Tickets ranging from 27 US dollars (£16.90) to 370 US dollars (£223) for the concert in the capital have been on sale since last month.

Some critics have declared Miley's onstage antics, including twerking and crotch-grabbing, to be vulgar.

A representative for Miley did not immediately respond to a request for comment and concert organisers in the Dominican Republic did not comment.
