It’s all change on the cobbles at the moment – some of our most beloved Corrie characters are moving out, while there are a few familiar faces moving in.

Make sure your Corrie knowledge isn’t left with more holes than a pair of Underworld lacy knickers by checking out our guide to the outgoing and incoming residents of Weatherfield.

Street Car for this lot…

Craig Charles/Lloyd Mullaney

Coronation Street
Craig Charles as Lloyd Mullaney (ITV)

It was a sad day when we discovered Craig was drawing his 10-year run in Coronation Street to a close.

Craig has decided to end his role as cabbie Lloyd Mullaney, but it’s not all bad news – he is off to rejoin his old Red Dwarf cast mates for a new series of the sitcom.

With Lloyd’s girlfriend Andrea (Hayley Tamaddon) also due to leave, will we see them sailing off into the sunset together?

Alison King/Carla Connor

Coronation Street
Alison King as Carla Connor (ITV)

Alison is one of the street’s best-loved characters, so it’s good news that her exit from playing Carla Connor is only a temporary one.

The knicker factory boss has been around for nine years, but she wants to take a break from the soap to pursue other projects.

A spokesman said: “Before Ali takes her break Carla has much more drama to come. She will be central to the explosive storyline which sees Victoria Court go up in flames, and the aftermath of that plotline will have huge consequences for the factory boss.”

Sounds like there are still plenty of exciting times to come for Carla.

Katy Cavanagh/Julie Carp

Coronation Street
Katy Cavanagh as Julie Carp (ITV)

We’ll also be bidding a fond farewell to Julie Carp this year, played by Katy Cavanagh for seven years.

Will the ditzy, glamorous sister of Eileen Grimshaw finally get a happy ending before she leaves Weatherfield, or will she go off in search of love in pastures new?

Luckily, it sounds like the door will be left open for a Julie return, as Katy said: “I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I’m not ruling out a return to the Street in the future. However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes.”

Hayley Tamaddon/Andrea Beckett

Coronation Street
Hayley Tamaddon as Andrea Beckett (ITV)

As mentioned, Lloyd’s girlfriend Andrea Beckett played by soap veteran Hayley is also off.

This one shows some of the strongest signs of being a dramatic exit, as former Emmerdale actress Hayley is set to leave during the soap’s live episode to celebrate 60 years on screen, and we’re guessing there will be some pretty explosive twists lined up for the anniversary.

She says she’d never rule out a return to the show so it seems like she won’t be killed off… Or is that a red herring?

Jimi Mistry/Kal Nazir

Coronation Street
Jimi Mistry as Kal Nazir (ITV)

Hollywood is done with its time on the cobbles as film star Jimi Mistry calls it a day on his foray into soap.

Jimi will leave his role as Kal Nazir following a “huge secret plot twist” which will also impact on his partner Leanne (Jane Danson) and we can’t wait to see what it is.

The actor has said this is the longest he has ever been in one role and had no intention of staying permanently because his life is in London – does this mean that we are looking at an untimely death on the street?

Amy Kelly/Maddie Heath

Coronation Street
Amy Kelly as Maddie Heath (ITV)

Poor Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) looks set for heartbreak once again as the actress playing her girlfriend Maddie Heath is quitting.

The actress explained earlier this year that she wanted to try out new things, saying: “I’m young and adventurous and I want to gain more experience and explore and improve my craft.”

But producer Stuart Blackburn will be gutted to see her go, as he’d previously admitted: “The joy with Amy is that she has no idea how good she is.

“Short of her wanting to go, the character of Maddie will be here as long as I’m here.”

Welcome drinks in the Rovers for this lot…

Sarah Harding

Sarah Harding
Sarah Harding (Daniel Leal-Olivas/PA)

Former Girls Aloud singer Sarah is the biggest star in the new line-up heading for Coronation Street.

She has admitted to being terrified about her debut, but she’ll be playing the wife of Tracy Barlow’s ex-husband Robert Preston and if we can see anyone giving villain Tracy a run for her money, it’s Sarah.

If she’s looking for tips, Sarah could turn to ex-band mate Cheryl Fernandez-Versini who made a charity cameo in the soap, or regular cast member Kym Marsh who joined after finding fame through Pop Stars, just like Girls Aloud did.

Shayne Ward/Aidan Connor

Shayne Ward
Shayne Ward (Dominic Lipinski/PA)

Isn’t he already in Corrie? Facial hair, brooding look… Oh no, that’s SEAN Ward, who plays bad boy Callum Logan. You can see where the confusion arose.

Anyway, SHAYNE Ward is the former X Factor winner, helpfully Mancunian, who will also be getting some help from a singing contest alumni as he’ll play Kym’s character Michelle Connor’s cousin Aidan.

It sounds like Aidan will be a bit of a ladies’ man, but he’ll need to watch his step as he’ll fall foul of Robert Preston.

Andrew Paul/Dan Jones

Andrew Paul
Andrew Paul will play Dan Jones in Corrie (ITV)

We know him better for playing The Bill’s PC Dave Quinnan for 13 years, but Andrew will find himself on the other side of the law when he takes up his role as Dan Jones.

The brewery worker will be a welcome distraction for Liz McDonald later this year when she is on the rebound from cheating boyfriend Tony Stewart, but will she still be interested when she discovers his dark secret connection to another Weatherfield woman?

It’s thought Dan could be sticking around as a regular character if Andrew’s debut goes down well with viewers.

Paddy McGuinness/Dougie Ryan

Paddy McGuinness
Paddy McGuinness (Chris Radburn/PA)

Bringing a bit of light relief to the soap over the summer is comedian Paddy McGuinness, who will play what he has described as a poor man’s Bear Grylls.

When the Tinkers, Fiz Stape, Tyrone Dobbs and Chesney Brown head off for a holiday, they meet Paddy’s character Dougie Ryan, who tries to draw them in to his enthusiasm for survival skills during their break.

The Take Me Out host is on screen for a limited time only, as he’s been booked as a guest for six episodes.

Tristan Gemmill/Robert Preston

Tristan Gemmill
Tristan Gemmill (ITV)

Casualty star Tristan has been signed up to play the much-anticipated role of Tracy Barlow’s ex Robert Preston.

He’ll make a typically dramatic soap entrance by turning up at her mum Deirdre’s funeral, where a grieving Tracy will fall straight back into his arms.

But the trouble really begins when Sarah Harding’s character arrives, revealing he is still married to her, and the Bistro’s new chef Robert will have to see if he can stand the heat that comes with deceiving Tracy.
